1cP-AL-LAD

1cP-AL-LAD is a lysergamide that combines two structural changes to the LSD framework: a cyclopropanoyl group at the N1 position and an allyl substituent at the N6 position. It is therefore related to both AL-LAD and the N1-acyl LSD derivatives. The compound has been identified in blotter and powder samples, but its biological activity and metabolism have not been established in published studies.

Chemistry and identification

The name 1cP-AL-LAD describes a cyclopropanecarbonyl group attached to the indole nitrogen of the AL-LAD structure. AL-LAD itself is an N6-allyl-6-nor analogue of LSD. The two modifications make 1cP-AL-LAD chemically distinct from 1cP-LSD, which retains LSD’s N6-methyl group.

A detailed analytical study used chromatography, high-resolution mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy and NMR to characterise a powdered sample. The researchers reported 17 impurities, several of which could only be assigned tentatively from mass-spectral data. 1cP-AL-LAD was also identified in blotter products sold online (Kavanagh and colleagues, 2023).

Detection in paper products

A separate Japanese study identified 1cP-AL-LAD in sheet products using GC-MS, LC-PDA-MS, LC-QTOF-MS and NMR. The work placed it alongside other recently encountered lysergamides, including 1cP-MiPLA, 1V-LSD and LSZ. The authors emphasised that multiple structural changes can make identification more demanding than for older, better-characterised compounds (Tanaka and colleagues, 2023).

Pharmacology and metabolism

At the time of those analytical studies, the metabolic pathways and biological activity of 1cP-AL-LAD had not been reported. Its structure resembles other lysergamides that interact with serotonin receptors, but that resemblance is not enough to assign a receptor profile or to conclude that it is converted to AL-LAD or LSD in the body.

The presence of an N1-acyl group raises the possibility of deacylation, as observed with some related compounds. However, the additional N6-allyl substitution means that findings for 1P-LSD or 1cP-LSD cannot simply be transferred to 1cP-AL-LAD.

Reported effects and clinical evidence

There are no controlled human studies or well-documented clinical case series establishing the subjective effects of 1cP-AL-LAD. Online descriptions should be treated cautiously, particularly when the identity and purity of the material have not been independently confirmed.

Research has so far established more about chemical identity and the complexity of commercial samples than about pharmacological effects or clinical outcomes.

Research limitations

Important gaps remain in receptor pharmacology, human metabolism, acute toxicology and longer-term effects. The reported impurities add another uncertainty: a product containing 1cP-AL-LAD may contain additional compounds whose identities or proportions are not fully established.

Related compounds

1cP-AL-LAD is related to AL-LAD, 1P-AL-LAD, 1cP-LSD and 1cP-MiPLA. It combines the N6-allyl feature of AL-LAD with N1-cyclopropanoyl substitution.
