1cP-MiPLA

1cP-MiPLA is a multiply substituted lysergamide identified in paper products in Japan in 2023. It combines an N1-cyclopropanoyl group with the N-methyl-N-isopropyl amide found in MiPLA. This makes it structurally different from both 1cP-LSD and MiPLA. Published research so far concerns analytical identification: its identity has been confirmed, but its metabolism and biological activity have not been reported.

Chemistry and structural features

MiPLA is lysergic acid methylisopropylamide. In 1cP-MiPLA, the lysergamide is modified at two positions: the indole nitrogen carries a cyclopropanoyl group, and the amide nitrogen has the methyl-isopropyl substitution pattern. It is therefore chemically distinct from both 1cP-LSD and MiPLA.

A Japanese study identified 1cP-MiPLA in sheet products using GC-MS, LC-PDA-MS, LC-QTOF-MS and NMR. The structural assignment showed modifications at N1 and N18. The paper also discussed the possibility of C8 epimerisation and analytical changes during GC-MS, issues that can complicate the interpretation of lysergamide samples (Tanaka and colleagues, 2023).

Pharmacology and metabolism

The 2023 identification study explicitly noted that the metabolic pathways and biological activity of 1cP-MiPLA had not been reported. It is therefore not possible to describe its receptor affinity, functional efficacy or conversion products with confidence.

Its N1-cyclopropanoyl group resembles the modification in 1cP-LSD, but the N-methyl-N-isopropyl amide is different from LSD’s diethylamide. Evidence that 1cP-LSD can be hydrolysed to LSD does not demonstrate that 1cP-MiPLA is converted to MiPLA or to another known lysergamide.

Reported effects

No controlled human observations or reliable clinical case series have established a characteristic 1cP-MiPLA experience. Its detection in blotter products confirms its presence in the market, not the nature or intensity of its effects.

Descriptions based on MiPLA, LSD or other N1-acyl lysergamides should not be presented as confirmed effects of 1cP-MiPLA.

Analytical and toxicological gaps

Research has so far focused on its chemical identity and the challenges of analysing multiply substituted lysergamides. There are no published compound-specific data establishing human metabolism, acute toxicity, dependence liability or long-term effects.

Without direct studies, predictions based on structure remain separate from demonstrated pharmacological effects.

Related lysergamides

1cP-MiPLA is related to MiPLA, 1cP-AL-LAD and 1cP-LSD. It differs from 1cP-LSD at the amide nitrogen and should be treated as a separate lysergamide.
