3-Fluoro-α-pyrrolidinovalerophenone (3F-α-PVP) is a fluorinated synthetic cathinone in the pyrovalerone family. It is based on the α-PVP structure, with a fluorine atom at the 3-position of the phenyl ring. Chemical databases confirm its identity, but published pharmacological and clinical research specific to this positional isomer is very limited.
Chemistry and identification
3F-α-PVP is also written as 3-fluoro-α-PVP or 3-fluoro-α-pyrovalerone. Its full structure is 1-(3-fluorophenyl)-2-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)pentan-1-one. It retains the pyrrolidine ring and five-carbon side chain of α-PVP, while the meta-fluoro substituent distinguishes it from the parent compound and from the para-fluoro isomer.
PubChem records the compound under a distinct substance identifier and lists 3F-α-PVP and 3-fluoro-α-pyrovalerone among its synonyms (PubChem: 3-fluoro-α-PVP).
Pharmacology
No detailed transporter study specific to 3F-α-PVP was identified in the available literature. α-PVP and related pyrrolidinophenones are generally potent inhibitors of dopamine and norepinephrine uptake, with much weaker activity at the serotonin transporter. This pattern in related compounds offers context, without establishing the potency or selectivity of the 3-fluoro analogue.
3F-α-PVP should not be confused with 3-fluoro-α-PiHP. The latter has a branched isohexanophenone side chain and is a different chemical structure. Studies of 3-F-α-PiHP cannot be used as direct evidence about 3F-α-PVP.
Reported effects
Reliable human accounts are too scarce to establish a characteristic 3F-α-PVP experience. Stimulant effects are plausible from its relationship to α-PVP, but detailed claims about euphoria, focus, duration or intensity would be speculative without direct observations.
Toxicity and research limitations
No compound-specific clinical case series, human metabolism study or controlled toxicity assessment was identified. The acute toxic range, dependence potential and long-term effects of 3F-α-PVP remain unknown.
Research on α-PVP and other fluorinated pyrrolidinophenones demonstrates why small structural changes matter: moving a substituent or changing the alpha-carbon side chain can alter transporter activity. Those findings cannot be used to assign a precise risk profile to 3F-α-PVP.
Related compounds
3F-α-PVP is related to α-PVP, 4F-α-PVP and other fluorinated pyrovalerones. It is distinct from 3F-α-PiHP, which has a different side-chain structure.
